Wolf Creek Ski Area
I went Snowboarding yesterday at Wolf Creek. I had an awesome time crushing all the deep powder snow that had fallen the day and night before. Wolf Creek consistently collects the highest totals of snowfall for any ski area in Colorado.

Signs of Drama in the Snow
While I was walking to the Fort, I noticed this strange mark in the snow. My best interpretation of it is a bird must have landed here, perhaps catching a small creature for a meal.

Old Hwy 3
I took this picture last year while travelling along the Old Highway 3. Hwy 3 used to be the only road into Durango from the south and east until the larger route, Camino del Rio was built to handle the increase of traffic volume coming into the town.

Piñon Pines
The Piñon is my favorite tree. I remember going out and harvesting the nuts with my parents when I was just a kid, something I look forward to doing with my own. The specific type of piñon in this picture is a Colorado Piñon (Pinus edulis.) It grows near my front door and brings many types of birds that feed on its seeds.

Purple Cliffs
" How much paint did it take to make the cliffs purple?" An actual question asked by a tourist visiting Durango. Geologically, the Purple Cliffs are known as the McDermott Formation. They are the stream and mudflow deposits that washed off the La Plata Mountains as they started to uplift during the late Mesozoic Era (66 Milion years ago).

Sunny Days of Summer
The Los Pinos River near Vallecito, Colorado. Weather here in Durango is cold, windy and snowy. I wanted to post this picture to warm things up a bit.
