Red-winged Blackbird

This Agelaius phoeniceus is one of several that call the little pond near my street home. I often see and hear them flitting about as I travel past their home.

Deer in the yard

It is a common occurrence to see deer in the yard. On this day, our door was open and our cat, Molly, was very interested in them. I wonder what she thinks of them. Does she see them as rodents of unusual size?

Red-Tailed Hawk

Yesterday, while doing dishes, my Significant Other looked out the window and spied something flying by. It didn't look like a typical Magpie or a Gilded Flicker, both common birds in our area this time of year. I got out my camera and trained my lens on this beautiful raptor, a Buteo jamaicensis, also known as a Red-Tailed Hawk or Chickenhawk. These birds are common to our area, but I rarely get a chance to see one, and this is the first time ever that I have been able to get a picture of one. Even though he was at least 140 meters away, I was able to snap these pictures with my new camera.

Signs of Drama in the Snow

Deer neighbor

Two does forage for edibles down the street from my house. I see these same deer all the time around here.
