Monsoon Season is Finally Here

And just in the nick of time. If there was no monsoon, I don't think this area of the country would be as comfortable as it is

Point Lookout

 This rock formation of Point Lookout Sandstone is named for a geological feature on Mesa Verde, but the name suits it well as it tends to form cliffs and prominences most places it is expressed. Here it forms the capstone ledge of the monocline that is Raiders Ridge and overlooks the valley below.

The Four Corners Gem and Mineral Club hosted its 59th annual gem and mineral show through the weekend. This photo showcases only a tiny selection of the rocks, gems, minerals and jewelery displayed for sale.

I feel privileged to have access to the view sheds around and I love sharing them with an audience who would most likely never see what is really out there

Bio Diesel Club

I had to get a shot of the cool paint job on this Bio Diesel fueled van

Fiery Sunset.

There has been sparked another wildfire around these parts. This one is south of Mancos, Colorado, in Weber Canyon. It was first reported around 4:30 PM, and has since then consumed around 600 acres, with spot fires remaining a constant threat. The silver lining to this situation is in the fact that this fire started near a road and should be easier to fight as compared to the Little Sand fire, near Pagosa Springs, which is deep within a roadless area.

Another silver lining behind wildfires is the sunsets. Nothing can come close to creating these ominous skies, so full of passion and excitement like the fire that spawned it
