Snow and Sun
The view spreads south over the agricultural fields of the Florida Mesa and the forested foothills of the Hogback Monocline, which bounds the San Juan Mountains to the north and the San Juan Basin to the south

Finally, SNOW!!
The storm came through for us big time. Several inches in town and it's still snowing as I type. I think I'm gonna dust off my snowboarding gear and head to the mountain Sunday to get my slide on!

Warm before the Storm
The weather around Durango and much of the West has been unseasonably warm and dry. There is a storm cycle coming to the state which is going to change all that and we'll finally have the snow that we need so badly

On the Florida
I really like this river. I like it because of its small size. I also really like the types of forests and the geological landscapes it flows through. The Florida is a tributary to the Animas river, and it originates from a small, high mountain lake called Lillie in the Weminuche Wilderness. Its waters are impounded at Lemon Reservoir to provide a source of drinking water for communities in the southwest of Colorado. I hear that there is good fishing to be had out of this river, but I wouldn't know personally. The Florida eventually joins the Animas River south of Durango, just a few mile north of the New Mexico border. This area of the Florida is right off of County Road 240 near the intersection with CR 245.

Dark Skies Threaten
Even though the sky looked so dark and threatening, nothing came of it. We are still dry as a bone and the mountains have very little to no snow. This photo was taken east of Durango near County Road 228, looking northeast up one of the many small valleys.

Sunset over Durango
Everything came together for a great sunset, and I was fortunate enough to be in a good place to capture it. This picture was taken yesterday from the Fort Lewis College campus

My Street: The View
My favorite part of my street is the view I get on my walk down to town. This is taken from a small park only a hundred yards down from my house.

Theme Day: My Street
I love my street, even though it's a long walk to get to town.
