With the warmer temperatures we've been experiencing come the rising of the waters of the local creeks. Hermosa creek is looking pretty swollen, but we have a few weeks until we experience peak flows.

Bald Eagle

If you go down to the Animas River, there's a chance you may see one of these beautiful birds flying around looking for prey. I saw this guy on the banks of the river just north of 33rd street in Durango.

HD Mountains

The HDs are a small range of mountains just east of Bayfield, Colorado. They don't look like much but they are one of the few mountain ranges in Colorado that are relatively road free.

Beauty in a hand sink

I may have mentioned before that my occupation is a window cleaner. As such, I get to see inside of some of the nicest homes in the Four Corners area. While I respect my client's privacy and I try not to post anything personal, I wanted to share this powder room sink with you. I am an avid rockhound and an amateur geologist and I really loved this sink. Although I'll admit it looks extremely hard to clean, I would love to have one just like it.

Sights and Sounds

There's a lot to see and hear while walking around downtown. People walking, checking out the shops. Cars going by with occasionally honking. The steam train blowing its whistle as it approaches intersections. And random street performers trying to coax some spare change from your pockets. Durango is a bustling place considering how small it is.

I was walking down the sidewalk and I noticed these dog tracks captured in the cement. They're like a modern trackway fossil!

Life in the rocks

The impression of a giant clam (inoceramid bivalve) can be seen in the rock on the left. the silver circle is a Quarter I used for scale. I love finding this type of stuff!

Horse Gulch

The Horse Gulch area is an open space with a great trail network. People come from all over ther Four Corners to ride their bikes or hike around here. I took this photo from the Telegraph trail.

People used to live here

This is Falls Creek.I have done a post on it before, so I won't get too into it. I am always stunned by the fact that people used to live in this area. I would love to live here under these stunning cliffs.
